New Delhi [India], September 23 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government over the encounter of a suspect in the Sultanpur jewellery store robbery, calling it "condemnable." He further stated that tarnishing Uttar Pradesh's image with violence and bloodshed was a conspiracy against the state's future.
"Weak people consider encounters their strength. Any fake encounter is an injustice. Tarnishing UP's image with violence and bloodshed is a big conspiracy against its future. Those in power today know they won't be re-elected. That's why they want to create such a situation in UP that no one will invest or enter the state," Yadav said.
He added, "The BJP is taking revenge because the aware people of UP defeated them in the Lok Sabha elections. Those who have no future spoil the future of others. Condemnable!"
Earlier, a suspect in the Sultanpur jewellery store robbery, identified as Anuj Pratap Singh, was killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) in Unnao's Achalganj area, the Uttar Pradesh Police confirmed.
The STF engaged in a firefight with the suspects, resulting in Singh's death, while another suspect managed to escape.
Singh, son of Dharmraj Singh from Janapur village in Amethi, was transported to a government hospital for treatment. After initial care, he was referred to the district hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
"On August 28, a robbery took place at Bharat Jewellers in Sultanpur. Today, an encounter occurred between the Lucknow STF and the suspects. One suspect, identified as Anuj Pratap Singh, was injured, while the other escaped. Singh was taken to the district hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors. Further legal action is underway," said Unnao Assistant Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Singh in an official statement. (ANI)
