Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh) [India], February 4 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday said the purpose of the ruling party in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is comprehensive welfare of the state.
Expanding on his argument, the Andhra CM said for him and his party--the YSRCP--the upcoming electoral battle means a lot more than merely electing members for the Lok Sabha.
He said his party seeks to go beyond the traditional electoral discourse, redirecting attention towards the well-being and progress of the state.
He asserted that the primary objective of the upcoming elections for his party was the comprehensive welfare of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, on Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh CM gave a clarion call to the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) cadre to prepare for another historic victory for the party in the ensuing elections by taking the message of welfare and social justice to the last citizen.
Addressing a massive gathering at the party's preparatory public meeting 'Siddham' here on Saturday, Chief Minister Reddy said the YSRCP took birth from the sweat and aspirations of the people and only its clean sweep will ensure the continuity of the slew of welfare schemes in the state.
"Our target is to get a clear mandate in 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the next elections. A vote for the TDP and Jana Sena will only result in the rollback of all welfare schemes in the state," he said.
Stating that he had clicked the button 124 times to disburse a sum of Rs 2,55,000 crore through DBT under welfare schemes to targeted beneficiaries over the last 57 months of his government, the chief minister called upon party supporters and the people to press two buttons for the YSRCP, one for the Assembly seats and the other for Lok Sabha seats, in the ensuing general and assembly elections in the state.
The Opposition, with the support of friendly media, has declared a war on welfare, administrative reforms, and the transformation of villages, the chief minister claimed, adding that it was an attack on the transformation of education, schools and the healthcare sector in the state.
"If people want to get the enhanced monthly pension at their doorsteps at first light along with promised benefits under other welfare schemes without any bias, YSRCP needs to be voted back. This message has to go out to the people," the CM said.
The Andhra CM also urged his party cadre to be his 'soldiers' and 'star campaigners' and take it to a historic victory in the upcoming state elections. (ANI)
