Panaji (Goa) [India], Mar 26 (ANI): A complaint has been filed against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the BJP on Tuesday with Goa’s Chief Electoral Officer for allegedly violating the Model Mode of Conduct by seeking to obtain an unlawful political mileage at the cost of the deceased Manohar Parrikar.
The complaint was filed by advocate Aires Rodrigues and alleged, “Since the death of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on March 17, the Goa Government led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the BJP were in rank violation of the Model Conduct of Conduct which is currently in place been seeking to obtain unlawful political mileage at the cost of the deceased Manohar Parrikar.”
Rodrigues in his complaint drawn the attention towards a public statement made by the Chief Minister that Parrikar’s ‘asthi kalash’ programme will help in BJP’s huge win.
He has further stated that the current condolence meetings being held across the state in the memory of Parrikar were in fact BJP campaign meetings and that the party by ferrying his ashes across the State was trying to illegally bolster the image of the party.
“BJP was also publicising those private visits of dignitaries to the residence of late Manohar Parrikar. This stage-managed cheap drama was an attempt to yield undue publicity for the BJP in rank violation of the Model Code of Conduct,” Rodrigues said.
Rodrigues demanded an immediate explanation be sought from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the BJP.
Goa will go to polls on April 23 for two Lok Sabha seats in the state. (ANI)
