Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 25 (ANI): After Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's approval for an investigation into alleged illegalities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority's (MUDA) scam, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said the CM is ready to face any investigation.
Lokayukta police is an independent body and does not work under anyone's mercy, said Parmeshwara, adding that the Karnataka CM is ready to face any probe.
"I have not seen the order yet...Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is ready to face any investigation...Lokayukta police is an independent body. They are not under the mercy of anybody so they will do the investigation accordingly..." said Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara.
Notably, Karnataka Lokayukta's Mysuru district police will investigate the MUDA scam and submit a report in three months. Petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna had approached the special court for people representatives with a private complaint.
Meanwhile, drawing attention to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's alleged role in the MUDA scam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a poll rally in Haryana's Sonipat said that the Congress is completely entrenched in corruption.
"It has only been two years, and just look at the Congress government in Karnataka. The Chief Minister is facing accusations of a land scam. When he appeared in the High Court, he was dismissed. The court stated that a proper investigation is necessary in this matter," PM Modi said.
Responding to PM Modi's statement on Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, he said, "This shows very clearly that it is a political game that they are playing. We have been saying right from the beginning that the BJP is using the entire episode for political gain and now the Prime Minister has proved that."
The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed Siddaramaiah's petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's approval for an investigation into alleged illegalities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority's (MUDA) allotting sites to his wife.
In his judgment, the single judge bench of Justice Nagaprasanna said that the order of sanction for prosecution does not suffer from non-application of mind by the Governor.
It is alleged that MUDA illegally allotted 14 sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife in the prime location of Mysuru city. The High Court, in its interim order, passed on August 19, had granted temporary relief to Siddaramaiah by directing a special court in Bengaluru to defer further proceedings and not to take any precipitative action pursuant to the sanction granted by the Governor.
