Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 1 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced the CM rise schools in the state will be known as Sandipani schools, named after Sandipani Rishi, who is known for being the guru of Lord Krishna and his brother Balarama.
Sandipani Rishi was a great scholar and a spiritual teacher who resided in Ujjain and Maharshi Sandipani Ashram is also located in Ujjain, where Lord Krishan received education.
CM Yadav made the announcement while addressing a 'State-Level Praveshotsav' program held under 'School Chale Hum' Campaign 2025 in the state capital Bhopal on Tuesday.
"Today we have made a decision that our CM Rise Schools in the state will be Sandipani Schools. With the decision, efforts have been made to reshape the vision of that 5000 years old Gurukul of Lord Krishna, through which holistic development takes place. Sandipani ji is a big name in the field of education, so we named it after Sandipani ji, so that people can easily remember this scheme. We belong to the Hindi state and in such a situation, this name will be easily known among the tribal, rural and urban people. Therefore, we have made efforts for the purpose," the CM told reporters after the program.
Notably, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan started the CM Rise Schools in the state in 2022. Currently, there are 369 CM Rise schools operating in the state.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Bhupendra Gupta slammed the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over changing the name of the CM rise school asking what else the party does other than changing the names. The government has no concern about the quality but just pastes a slip (referring to name change).
"What does the Bharatiya Janata Party do other than pasting slips? First the Model schools were named as CM rise schools and now CM Rise is being renamed as Sandipani schools. Sandipani Rishi was a great sage and he had such a teaching tradition that God himself came to study here and today schools are being closed. Students are not ready to take admission in those schools and they (the state government) renaming it as Sandipani schools. Will the standard of those schools be lifted by naming after the rishi? The government has no concern about the quality; just paste the slip, spread confusion among the public and take advantage of their frenzy religious faith. This is the task of the BJP," Gupta said.
"Around 30,000 schools have been closed in Madhya Pradesh. Did the government know anything about the students? Universities are looting the students by running unrecognized courses. Does the government have a focus on this? It is surprising what type of government it is and what kind of their thinking is. They will not improve the quality but will make a slip to hide the name," he added. (ANI)
