Citizens and Army proud of the diplomatic win by a decisive government: BJP
New Delhi [India], Sept. 30 (ANI): In the wake of India's surgical strikes across the Line of Control, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shrikant Sharma said that after this diplomatic win, it is a matter of pride for the people of the country and the army that they have a decisive government. "When our government was formed and Modi ji took the oath, we had a variety of challenges in front of us. Terrorism is one of the major challenges and our Prime Minister made policies to annihilate it completely. The Government of India has a zero tolerance policy for terrorism. We have had this policy for a long time. We extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan .We greeted them on Eid, we wished them on cricket. We tried completely that Pakistan cooperate with India to end terrorism. But in return, we got Pathankot and Uri. Then we decided that Pakistan understands its own language, terrorists understand their own language," Sharma said. Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on Pakistani terrorists positioned across the Line of Control on terror launch pads on Wednesday night. Director General of Military Operations Lt General Ranbir Singh revealed that Indian forces led by a Special Operations Group led the surgical strikes operation and caused significant casualties to terrorists . "We conducted a huge anti-terror operation which was successful and for that we congratulate our Army and the Prime Minister," he added. Stressing on the fact that the world is today aware about the terrorism hot spots, he said, "The world has understood that if anything is the enemy of human rights, it is terrorism. The government has been successful in this. Today, our citizens are happy with the government's decision. The army is also excited and happy with the decision." Following the Uri attack, the government launched a diplomatic offensive to isolate Pakistan. Prime Minister Modi urged Pakistan to wage a war against poverty and the government, as part of a calibrated response, mounted pressure on Islamabad with a series of steps including a meeting to review the Indus Waters Treaty. India also announced it would boycott the SAARC summit in Islamabad in November. "After the Prime Minister tweeted post Uri, the Army was happy that for the first time, they have a Prime Minister who understand the Army's and the country's sentiments. As a result, we went ahead and destroyed the terror camps across LoC without any casualties on our side. So, it is a matter of pride for the army and every Indian that they have a decisive leadership today," he added. Before the ceasefire on the LoC came into force in November 2003, limited cross-LoC operations by the Army's Border Action Teams (BAT) were a regular occurrence. Targeting launch pads over an arc of 250 km on the LoC, Thursday's operation is much bigger in scope and extent than the earlier BAT operations. (ANI)
