Chitoor blast: NIA arrests, interogates three Al-Qaeda suspects in Madurai
Madurai [India], Nov. 28 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Tamil Nadu Police on Monday arrested three suspected Al-Qaeda men in Madurai, in connection with the bombings at six courts in South India. The three men are being questioned in Madurai and they will be taken to Mysore for future investigation. All the three men arrested were involved in bombings at six courts including Mysore, Chittoor, Kollam, Nellore and Malappuram. The arrested men were Karim, Ayuf and Abbas Ali who functioned as Al Qaeda "base movement" in Madurai. According to police reports, they were targeting 22 national leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and two men involved in the untoward plan are absconding still. On April 7th, three people were injured and several vehicles damaged after a crude bomb went off on the premises of district court in Chittoor town of Andhra Pradesh. On November 2nd a low-intensity blast took place on the premises of judicial magistrate court in Malappuram, in north Kerala. According to reports, the police recovered a pamphlet from the blast scene, which attributed the attack to "Base Movement", an outfit suspected to be involved in earlier low-intensity blasts at court complexes in Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh) on April 7, Kollam (Kerala) on June 15, Mysuru (Karnataka) on August 1 and Nellore (Andhra Pradesh) on September 12.
