Check aspirants' credentials thoroughly to avoid 'sex' CD-like incidents: Chhotepur
Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], Sept. 1 (ANI): Sacked Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur on Thursday said in order to avoid incidents like "Sex CD", involving sacked Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) should examine in detail the credentials of an aspirant before giving a party ticket, adding that it was the reason as to why did he object to the two lists of candidates announced for the upcoming Punjab polls. Chhotepur said due to recent incidents (involving Sandeep Kumar), the image of the party has been tarnished "This is something really saddening that everyday new incidents relating to the AAP are being highlighted, which is tarnishing the party's image and is worrisome," Chhotepur told ANI. "When I used to speak in Punjab, I used to tell the people that no criminals, characterless, corrupt, land grabber or any police informer should be part our party. We used to investigate all these things before giving a ticket to anybody," Chhotepur said. "I did not give my consent to the two lists of candidates released recently. I know that out of the 32 people, who have been given tickets, 25 are such candidates who will repeat Delhi-like incidents," he added. Stating that before giving ticket to anybody, Chotepur said, "proper investigation must be done against an aspirant so that the same incident that happened in Delhi (Sandeep Kumar case) is not repeated in Punjab." He further said, "They used to say that we would give tickets to the poor; but the list that has come out has no poor member in it. This will lead to repeat of Delhi's incidents here as well that will further tarnish the party's image." Chottepur accused the party and said, "It is impossible for me to sit with people of that the party, which finished me politically. Technically, you can say that I am in the party, but "morally" I am not." AAP sacked Sandeep Kumar yesterday for featuring in a CD, which allegedly shows him in a compromising position with two women. On Thursday, he denied that he was the person featuring in the controversial video, saying he was bearing the brunt for being a Dalit and poor. Demanding an investigation into the matter, Kumar dubbed the CD episode as "hoax", while alleging that it was a conspiracy against him.(ANI)
