CBI to probe into 'torture charges' in Bansal's suicide note
New Delhi [India], Sept. 28 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday stated that based on the alleged suicide note of former bureaucrat B.K. Bansal and his son where certain CBI officials have been accused of torturing his family, a probe will be carried out against said personnel. In a statement released today, the CBI said that they received a copy of purported hand written notes of Bansal, which contains allegations against certain CBI officials in connection with the on-going bribery investigation against Bansal and others, and have decided to probe the allegations. Asserting that the CBI is fully committed to conduct investigation in a fair and professional manner without harassment to any one and strictly within the parameters of Law, the statement added that if any violation is established during the probe, strict action will be taken against the CBI officials concerned and that Competent Court will be informed. Along with the three officers named Bansal, two mentioned in his son's suicide letter will be examined by the CBI. Meanwhile, Bansals's alleged suicide note which has gone public, has stated that his entire family was directly harassed by CBI, and that his wife and daughter were abused and tortured by certain official personnel. In his suicide note, Bansal wrote that while he was in jail, two women officers from the CBI slapped his wife and daughter while their boss urged, "Torture these women so much that they are almost dead." "These lady officers told my wife that they will chop me and my son into pieces and feed them to dogs," the note said. Yesterday, Bansal allegedly committed suicide, along with his 25-year-old son at their home in Madhu Vihar in East Delhi. Bansal, then director general of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was arrested on July 16 on the charges of accepting Rs. 9 lakhs as a bribe from a pharmaceutical company that wanted to buy its way out of an investigation for its alleged illegal business practices. The graft case is currently being investigated by the CBI. "The son of B.K.Bansal was neither accused nor summoned by the CBI in the on-going bribery investigation," the statement clarified. The investigative agency had searched their apartment and purportedly seized Rs. 60 lakh cash, 20 property papers and details of 60 bank accounts. Two days after Bansal's arrest, his wife Satyabala Bansal and daughter Neha were found hanging in separate rooms at their Madhu Vihar residence on July 19. Both women left separate suicide notes, saying the CBI raid had caused "great humiliation and they did not want to live after that". They, however, held nobody responsible for their death. (ANI)
