CBI 'a beast running wild' under BJP rule: Vinay Katiyar

New Delhi [India], Apr 21 (ANI): Echoing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's views on Babri Masjid case verdict, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinay Katiyar on Friday said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has become like a 'wild beast on the loose' under the present dispensation. The CBI had appealed in the Supreme Court to restore criminal conspiracy charges against BJP supremos Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh among others. While denying any plotting or conspiracy with regard to Babri Masjid demolition, Katiyar said it is actually the CBI which is conspiring against people. "Nobody conspired against it (against demolition). But if there was somebody who conspired, it is the CBI. CBI has become a wild animal on the loose under the present dispensation. It is the CBI which is conspiring. When there was no case, why was it framed against us by the CBI? Even the High Court said that no conspiracy case stands against us. But a case of conspiracy was framed through the medium of CBI. We will follow the Supreme Court's verdict. We are ready to go to jail. But nobody demolished the structure," Katiyar told ANI. Earlier on Wednesday, former Bihar chief minister Lalu Yadav also opined similar notions stating that the CBI is in control of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Lalu further said that the verdict was designed in such a way so as to remove Advani from the presidential race. Earlier on Wednesday, the apex court allowed the CBI's appeal in the Babri Masjid demolition case and restored criminal conspiracy charges against Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh among others. However, Kalyan Singh, who was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1992, enjoys constitutional immunity as the Rajasthan Governor and can be tried only after he leaves office. The apex court ordered that two separate cases in Lucknow and Raebareli against Advani, Joshi and Bharti and unknown 'kar sevaks' shall be brought together in one trial. The Supreme Court also directed the trial court in Lucknow to commence the proceedings in four weeks and hear the matter on a day-to-day basis so as to complete the hearing in two years. The apex court also said there will be no 'de novo' (fresh) trial. (ANI)
