CAG report on Rafale deal being brought to Parliament on Wednesday

New Delhi [India], Feb 13 (ANI): The report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) on capital acquisitions in the Indian Air Force, which includes details of the Rafale fighter jet deal, was tabled in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
While the proceedings were on in the Upper House, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA patron Sonia Gandhi and other opposition leaders gathered in Parliament's premises and protested against the Rafale deal.
Raising slogans like ‘chowkidaar chor hai’, they held paper models of the fighter aircraft with images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Anil Ambani printed on them.
The report comes at a time when the BJP and the opposition are at loggerheads over the jet deal.
The Rafale jet is a twin-engine Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft, which security analysts believe can be a 'game-changer' for India's defence forces.
On Monday, Rahul Gandhi had alleged that Prime Minister Modi facilitated "loot" in Rafale deal citing a media report that Modi had got the anti-corruption clause removed from the contract.
A day later, he used another media report to allege that the Prime Minister had acted as a “middleman” for Ambani in the fighter deal and accused him of violating the Official Secrets Act (OSA) and indulging in “treason” for which “action must be initiated".  (ANI)
