Ajmer (Rajasthan) [India], April 6 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched an attack on Congress and said that the party's manifesto is a "bundle of lies" and every page of the document reeks of attempts to "tear India apart."
Congress manifesto was released at the party headquarters by party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on Friday.
Addressing a rally in Rajasthan's Ajmer, the Prime Minister said that the manifesto reflects that the thinking of the Congress resembles those of the Muslim League during the pre-Independence period.
"Yesterday the Congress Party released its manifesto, a bundle of lies. Every page of this smells of breaking India into pieces. The same thinking is reflected in the Congress manifesto as was present in the Muslim League at the time of independence. Congress wants to impose the views of the Muslim League of that time on India today," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister claimed that the Congress of today is "bereft of principles and policies" adding that it was apparent that the party has outsourced everything.
"Congress of today is bereft of principles and policies. Today Congress has neither principles nor policies left. It was apparent that the party had outsourced everything," he added.
"The manifesto released by Congress reflects the same thinking that was prevalent in the Muslim League during the freedom struggle. The Congress manifesto completely bears the imprint of the Muslim League and the little remaining party," he said.
He then went on to ask whether such a party could do anything that would be in the country's interest, eliciting a loud "no" from the people in the audience.
Congress made a slew of promises in its manifesto including a legal guarantee for MSP, 50 per cent reservation for women in government jobs, repealing Agnipath scheme, doubling GDP in the next ten years, strengthening anti-defection law, restoring the status quo ante with China, mobile phones for students from class IX to XII and amending the GST regime.
The Congress party's election manifesto focuses on 'Paanch Nyay' or five pillars of justice, including 'Yuva Nyay', 'Naari Nyay', 'Kisaan Nyay', 'Shramik Nyay' and 'Hissedari Nyay' as well as the guarantees made by it to the people as part of its poll promises for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Rajasthan will go to the polls in two phases, on April 19 and April 26. Polling for 12 Lok Sabha seats will be held in the first phase on April 19, while the remaining 13 seats will be polled in the second phase on April 26.
The BJP won 24 out of 25 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, while the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party won one. While, in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the BJP won in all 25 parliamentary constituencies.
The counting of votes for all 543 Lok Sabha seats across the country is scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
