Pedapalli (Telangana) [India], October 19 (ANI):Emphasizing the interdependence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and AIMIM, Rahul Gandhi asserted on Thursday that voting for any party other than Congress in Telangana effectively means supporting Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's party.
Addressing the gathering during his 'Vijayabheri Yatra' in the region, the Congress Member of Parliament pointed out that the BRS lends its support to the BJP in the Lok Sabha.
"The BRS, BJP and AIMIM help each other. Voting for BJP and AIMIM means voting for BRS. There are 24 cases against me. My Lok Sabha membership was cancelled, my house was taken away because I stood in front of BJP. On the other hand, KCR has not been questioned by ED, CBI or IT. BRS supports BJP in Lok Sabha. Be it GST or Farmers' Bill," the AICC leader said.
Noting that crucial state departments are under the control of KCR's family, the Congress leader highlighted that this election represents a clash between "Dorala" (feudal lords) Telangana and "Prajala" (people's) Telangana.
"Now, this election has become a fight between Dorala Telangana and Prajala Telangana. KCR's family has taken control of important departments related to land, sand, and liquor," he said.
Furthermore, he criticized the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, citing it as a prime example of corruption under CM KCR.
"You have heard of the Kaleshwaram project. After price escalation a new budget of Rs 1 lakh crore. Your lands have been grabbed, but have you received any benefit from that project? Only the contractors, who are friends of chief minister and his family have benefited from Kaleshwaram," Rahul said.
"KCR promised a Rs 1 lakh loan waiver to farmers. Farmers didn't get the loan waiver, only landlords are benefiting from Rythu Bhandu," he added.
Reiterating poll guarantees, he said, that party's promises to Telangana will be implemented in the first Cabinet meeting of the Congress government.
"Women are the backbone of any society. Congress will provide Rs 2,500 every month, LPG for 500, and free bus travel for women. Under Cheyutha, old-age pensions will be given Rs 4000, Indiramma illu for the poor, and much more. All our promises to Telangana will be implemented in the first Cabinet meeting of the Congress government," he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Rahul alleged that BRS is the 'B-team' of BJP in Telangana.
Responding to it, Chief Minister KCR's son KT Rama Rao said that the BRS is not the BJP's B team, but the Congress is the C team of the country. "C team means chor (thief) team," the BRS working president said while addressing a gathering at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 9 announced that the Telangana Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on November 30. The counting of votes will be done on December 3.
Telangana is set to witness a triangular contest between the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and the Congress in the upcoming assembly election.
In the previous Assembly election held in 2018, BRS managed to win 88 seats out of 119 and had a dominant vote share of 47.4 per cent. Congress came in a distant second with 19 seats. Its vote share was 28.7 per cent. (ANI)
