Britain partners TiECON Chandigarh for second year
Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], Feb. 17 (ANI): The United Kingdom (UK) for the second year is the sole country partner for TiECON Chandigarh, which aims to create an energising entrepreneurial environment for startup founders looking to internationalise their businesses. British Deputy High Commissioner Chandigarh David Lelliott and Deputy Trade and Investment Commissioner Amo Kalar from the British High Commission in New Delhi will be among the high-profile speakers for the second 'TiECON Chandigarh' to be held on February 17-18. David Lelliott said, "The UK is a great place to do business and remains a very attractive destination for Indian companies. One of our most dynamic initiatives is to support India's start-up wave by connecting India's high-growth technology companies to opportunities, expertise and finance in the UK. Partnering TiECON shows our continuing commitment to supporting the development of the Chandigarh region and to seeing Chandigarh-based companies be part of the living bridge of people, investment and ideas that makes the UK/India relationship so unique." The conference will bring together a diverse group of innovative and dynamic ventures. Leading entrepreneurs, mentors, innovators, investors, startups, educationists, journalists, policy makers and other key stakeholders will focus is on generating our next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs. Over 800 participants are expected to attend over the two days. Amo Kalar said, "As we exit the European Union, the UK will become an even stronger proposition for India's brightest innovators, entrepreneurs and thinkers to internationalise their high-growth businesses, ideas and ventures." In his recent speech to the India-UK TECH Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the "living bridge" between India and the UK. Entrepreneurs and their flow of ideas are a key part of that. The event comes hot on the heels of the national success of the Tech Rocketship Awards, where over £ one million of investment has already been made in Indian start-ups with the promise of more to come. Many of the winners of those awards will attend TiECON as examples of the living bridge, having just returned from their recent tailor-made trip to the UK. (ANI)
