BPL list row: BJP taunts 'mentally poor' Digvijaya Singh
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), July 23 (ANI): Taking a jibe at Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh as his name appeared in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said the 'mentally poor' former chief minister can only answer as to how his name came up in the same. "It's a question for Digvijaya Singh.he should reply as to how come he is a poor. He can be seen as mentally poor. He can say it on what basis he is poor and on which basis did he apply and how the card was made and on what basis he wants to take advantage of the card," BJP leader Rameshwar Sharma told ANI. Sharma said that his party has said if a person is poor, irrespective of whichever party he belongs to, his BPL card should be made. "If Digvijaya Singh is poor, he must have applied for a card and the officials must have probed. If he is not poor, Digvijaya Singh will object to it. If he objects, then he should take action against the official who made it," he added. Responding to a poser that Singh is calling it a 'conspiracy', Sharma said the BJP doesn't need to insult him by doing this as he is already defamed. "We don't require any additional effort to do so. A person, who is already defamed, cannot be defamed futher," he added. Singh earlier today claimed that he and his family were included in the list of BPL people by the Centre and BJP-led state government. "GOMP and GOI includes my name my brother's name my son's name in BPL ! We all are Income Tax payees. We have neither applied nor taken any benefit under BPL. This is a conspiracy against me and my family," Singh tweeted. Demanding apology from the concerned authorities, Singh wrote: "Those responsible should apologise and should be punished." (ANI)
