Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 27 (ANI): Apna Dal's national president and National Democratic Alliance candidate from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur Lok Sabha seat Anupriya Patel said that the public is going to vote for her based on the work done by her and BJP-led double engine government in the state.
She also claimed that voters will "definitely" give her a chance to serve for the third time while speaking to ANI on Sunday.
"There is no competition in Mirzapur, although all the opposition alliances have fielded their leaders, but on the basis of the work I have done for Mirzapur in the last 10 years and by the double engine government in Mirzapur, the voters will definitely give me a chance to serve for the third time," said Anupriya Patel.
Taking about Apna Dal's past records she said, "In 2014, Apna Dal contested elections on two Lok Sabha seats and won both the seats. In 2019 as well, we contested elections on two Lok Sabha seats and won both those seats, taking our strike rate to 100 per cent."
Now in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Apna Dal is contesting on two Lok Sabha seats and there are women candidates on both the seats. For the first time in 62 years, a woman candidate is in the electoral fray from Robertsganj and both of us women will reach Parliament by maintaining the strike rate of 100 per cent".
When asked about Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav's jibe at Prime Minister Modi's 'Mujra' remark, Patel said, "For the third time, PM Modi is going to have a hat-trick. The opposition also knows that the NDA coalition government is going to be formed for the third time. When the election results are announced on June 4, the INDI alliance will be wiped out, NDA alliance will form the government with a higher margin than 2014 and 2019."
On Rahul Gandhi's statement that 10 kg ration will be given free if the INDI alliance government comes to power, Anupriya Patel taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi said, "NDA government has been in power for the last 10 years. Inspired by our government, Rahul Gandhi wants to follow the footsteps of NDA. This means that the opposition also agrees with the policies of NDA."
"Congress has been in power for five decades, they have got many opportunities, yet they have not worked for the people and the NDA government has got the opportunity twice. We have talked about various issues like women, farmers, poor and food providers in the policies of NDA. Women have been our priority. From Ujjwala gas connection to tap water to every house, many schemes have been launched to empower women power," she added.
Talking about the INDI alliance, the Mirzapur candidate said, "There is so much internal discord going on in the INDI alliance, they are contesting elections together in one state and against each other in another state. Similar is the relationship between Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, the same is the different relationship between INDI Alliance in Bengal. The INDI alliance is full of internal contradictions. Under the alliance, every party and every leader has its own ambition and all of them together are not able to make a road map nor does the INDI alliance have any face for the Prime Minister's post."
Mirzapur will undergo polls in the seventh and final phase on June 1 and results will be out on June 4. (ANI)
