Bikaner (Rajasthan) [India], October 2 (ANI): A day after the Hanumangarh railway station authorities received a bomb threat letter, the Railway Police Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have intensified checks in and around the station premises and are on alert to prevent any untoward incident.
RPF inspector Subhas Bishnoi said on Wednesday that they are on high alert. However, so far, no suspicious items have been found during checks.
"After receiving the information, we are checking the luggage of passengers. We are inspecting the waiting hall and dustbins at the railway station with the help of a dog squad. Special attention is being given to the luggage of passengers travelling through Hanumangarh. We are also advising passengers to inform the administration if they notice anything suspicious. Till now, we haven't found anything suspicious," he said.
North Western Railway CPRO Captain Shashi Kiran said that the letter was received by the station superintendent of Hanumangarh Junction on Tuesday, prompting a search and investigation by security agencies.
The letter threatened to bomb multiple railway stations, including Shri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Kota, Bundi, Udaipur City, and Jaipur, on October 30, claiming it was retaliation for the deaths of jihadists in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Police inspected the railway station, and no suspicious material was found. Security has been increased at all railway stations, and an FIR has been lodged against unknown persons," Captain Kiran told ANI.
A case has been registered against unknown individuals at the GRP station. ASP Pyarelal Meena said that security measures are in place to safeguard the public. (ANI)
