BMC Polls: Maharashtra CM, Shiv Sena chief cast their votes
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Feb.21 (ANI): With polling underway for 227 municipal wards in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena Party chief Uddhav Thackeray were among the many who cast their votes respectively. "I appeal to every person to kindly come out and vote in your respective booths. As in democracy, it's our right and responsibility to vote and contribute your vote for the welfare of the society," said Fadnavis. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray cast his vote at a polling booth in Mumbai's Bandra East accompanied by his wife and son. Expressing his gratitude, Thackeray thanked all voters for voting today. Local body polls will be witnessing a high pitch battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Shiv Sena, the Congress, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Notably, the Shiv Sena, an ally of the BJP at the Centre and as well as at the Maharashtra government, will be facing off with the latter after Uddhav Thackeray decide to part ways for the BMC polls. Meanwhile, police has tightened security across the city ahead of Mumbai Municipal Corporations elections and are maintaining a strong vigil to avert any untoward incident across the 7,304 polling centres.
