New Delhi [India], October 6 (ANI): Lashing out at Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his 'Janata ki Adalat' event, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Praveen Khandelwal called it a "political drama" and an "insult" to the democratic system.
"Arvind Kejriwal holding 'Janata ki Adalat' event is nothing more than a political drama. When he was the chief minister of Delhi, how many times did he hold the 'Janata ki Adalat'?...Through 'Janata ki Adalat', Arvind Kejriwal is showing that he made the condition of Delhi worse," the BJP MP from Chandni Chowk said.
"Can Kejriwal tell how many times has he made decisions after discussing them with people? Now he is doing this political drama because the Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections are coming. This is also an insult to the democratic system in the country," he added.
He also hit out at Kejriwal over the controversy over the bus marshals issue, and alleged that over 10,000 people became unemployed
The bus marshals have been protesting to get reinstated after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena terminated their services in October last year.
The AAP has alleged that the BJP has stepped back from its promise that they will regularise bus marshals through the LG after the Chief Minister Atishi-led cabinet passed a resolution in the assembly.
Khandelwal said, "Is it not true that over 10,000 bus marshals became unemployed due to a single order given by Arvind Kejriwal? Now, AAP is pretending to sideline with bus marshals. BJP has tried its best to represent the case of the bus marshal and solve it with the help of L-G. Now AAP wants to take the credit for it. BJP stood with bus marshals in their struggle."
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal launched a scathing attack against the BJP while addressing the 'Janta Ki Adalat' event held in the national capital on Sunday. He said that the BJP's double-engine governments are going from Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. He added that double engines have failed in the country.
"I was watching TV yesterday evening, exit polls were coming. BJP's double-engine governments are going from Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. The double engine has failed in the country. The first engine failed in June when they got 240 seats. The second engine will also fail from Jharkhand and Maharashtra slowly. People have understood that double-engine government means inflation, unemployment and corruption," said Kejriwal addressing the 'Janta Ki Adalat' event held in the national capital.
"They have governments in 22 states. Ask them if they have provided free electricity even in one of the states. We have made government schools better. In Gujarat, they have been in power for 30 years. They have made the education for the poor worse. I challenge PM Modi to make electricity-free, schools and hospitals better. The law and order situation is bad in Delhi. The crime in remote areas has become worse. What is the BJP doing when all this is happening? They are only trying to halt our developmental work," he added further.
Slamming the BJP on the ongoing controversy over bus marshals' recruitment, Kejriwal said, "We recruited bus marshals after forming a government. The situation became better for women in buses. It became safe for women and children. They should be ashamed of removing bus marshals. I requested Delhi L-G to not do so. These bus marshals are very poor people. They get just Rs 15,000 per month. They snatched away the jobs of these 10,000 bus marshals as well." (ANI)
