New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajasthan president CP Joshi hit out at Rahul Gandhi for his remarks in Parliament saying that they are reprehensible and wrong and the newly elected Leader of Opposition should apologize.
CP Joshi said that it is shameful that the Congress MP is "defaming Hinduism and Hindus to serve his political interests".
"Making such untrue and baseless statements that Hindus spread violence, lies and hatred is completely reprehensible and wrong. This statement is not only an insult to the basic teachings of Hinduism but is also an attempt to spread unrest and division in the society," the senior BJP leader said.
"Hinsaayam duyate ya sa Hindu. This means that one who stays away from violence in his mind, words and deeds is a Hindu. I am proud that I was born in a Hindu family, grew up in Hindu tradition. I am a Hindu, not a violent person. Rahul Gandhi should apologize for his statement," Joshi said.
BJP State President CP Joshi said that the Congress stands for the suppression of Hindus. "Those who have not understood the religion of terrorists till date, today they see crores of Hindus as violent," Joshi said.
Joshi said that the roots of Hinduism lie in non-violence, tolerance, and compassion towards all living beings.
"This religion has been promoting co-existence and diversity for centuries. In such a situation, blaming the entire community for such false and provocative statements by an individual or group is not only unfair, but also creates resentment in the Hindu society," the BJP leader said.
Participating in the debate on the motion of thanks on the President's Address, Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP-led government and alleged there has been "a systematic attack" on the idea of India.
"There has been a systematic and full-scale assault on the idea of India, the Constitution and on the people who resisted the attack on the Constitution. Many of us were personally attacked. Some of the leaders are still in jail. Anyone who resisted the idea of concentration of power and wealth, aggression on poor and Dalits and minorities was crushed...I was attacked by the order of the Government of India, by the order of the Prime Minister of India...The most enjoyable part of it was the 55 hours of interrogation by ED...," he alleged.
"Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions...All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," the Congress leader said.
Rahul Gandhi also said the BJP is not the entire Hindu society.
"Narendra Modi is not the entire Hindu society. BJP is not the entire Hindu society, RSS is not the entire society, this is not BJP's contract," Rahul Gandhi said. (ANI)
