Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), [India], Apr 15 (ANI): BJP’s ‘agenda of alliance’ with the People’s Democratic Front (PDP) and the People’s Conference (PC) has given rebirth to guns, militancy, crackdown, fear, and panic in Jammu and Kashmir, said former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday here.
“I want to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi what the BJP has achieved from the agenda of alliance with PDP and PCP. What you have given to the state is rebirth to guns, militancy, crackdown, fear and panic,” said Abdullah, while addressing an election rally.
“Look at our condition! If Article 370 A is being attacked and Article 35A is being weakened, then it is because of the agenda of alliance of BJP, PDP, and PC. Mehbooba Mufti had not heard about Article 35A till the NC leaders told her in the Assembly that it is her responsibility to save it,” he said.
The NC vice president also criticised the BJP for building bunkers in large numbers. “Under my rule, we removed 40 bunkers but under their rule, two-storey bunkers are being built.”
Taking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his statement that the bright future of the state can be ensured only after the departure of Abdullah and Mufti family, Omar said: “You have said it earlier that if the people choose BJP, you will finish these two families from the state.”
“But what you did in 2015? You welcomed one of these families with open arms. We are not among those people who forget their promises. We keep our words. However, you made two chief ministers from that family one in 2015 and another in 2016.”
“Those who have not given anything to the state, what to expect from them -- be it ‘kamal ka phool’ (BJP’s electoral symbol lotus), ‘kalam dawaat’ (PDP’s poll symbol), ‘seb’ (PC’s poll symbol). They all are the same,” he said.
He also criticised the Centre for demonetisation and GST, stating: “When you people go to a shop to recharge your phone, and if Rs 18 is cut, Rs 9 goes to PM Modi’s treasure and the rest Rs 9 used to go to Mufti. It now goes to Malik.”
Prime Minister Modi, while addressing an election rally at Kathua on Sunday, had said: “The Abdullah and Mufti families destroyed lives of three generations of Jammu and Kashmir. A bright future of the state can be ensured only after their departure.” (ANI)
