Nuh (Haryana) [India], October 2 (ANI): Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar criticised the Congress party on Wednesday, claiming that previous governments in Haryana have kept the region backward and saying that the BJP will create a record by winning a third consecutive term in power in the state.
Speaking to reporters in Haryana's Nuh, the former Haryana Chief Minister said, "I am here to appeal to the people to help the BJP candidate win the elections. Despite not having a BJP MLA from this region in the last ten years, the most development work has taken place here. Congress governments have always kept this area backward, viewing the people here only as a vote bank."
He further said that the BJP will form a clear government and make history by winning the assembly elections for a third term.
"The BJP will be creating a record, as no other party has achieved a third consecutive term in Haryana. Congress has only managed two terms and could not secure a third," he added.
Earlier, during a public rally in Nuh, Khattar highlighted the state government's support for farmers. "After purchasing the land with government funds, we expanded the area of Kotla Lake for farmers and increased the available water supply. We are also looking to source more water from the Agra canals," said the Union Minister.
He noted that the government has consistently purchased crops from farmers and compensated them for losses due to insufficient rainfall.
"Earlier, the farmers were not able to get the amount after selling their crops in the mandi, under the leadership of PM Modi, now the amount of the crop sale goes directly into the accounts of the farmers," he added.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with the results set to be announced on October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party, winning 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats. (ANI)
