BJP want Karnataka Minister K.J. George to resign

New Delhi, July 8 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday demanded the resignation of Karnataka Minister K.J. George and also criticised the collapsing law and order in the state. Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapati allegedly committed suicide on July 7. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room at a hotel in Madikeri and also left a suicide note behind blaming George and other officials for harassing him. Speaking to ANI here, BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa said "The law and order situation has completely collapsed throughout because of frequent transfers and interference in the routine work of officers, which Ganpati came out openly. He had also spoken to media because of harassment that George and other things that were going on and this is why he told and then committed the suicide." This is the second suicide in one week, just three days ago, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Chikmagalauru, Kallappa Handibagh, 34, was found hanging at his relative's home in Belagavi. His father-in-law alleged that he was "professionally and personally humiliated". Ganapati had accused Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town Planning K.J. George and other officials of harassing him in his suicide note. "So, people are not happy with this government and demand Chief Minister to take resignation of George and take necessary actions and according to the criminal procedure court and give law and order most importance. If not, then everything will collapse," Yeddyurappa said. Now, it is high time, centre should intervene, he added. Ganapati was a native of Munjarayapattana, Siddhapur near Madikeri and belonged to the 1991 batch of Karnataka Police Service. He was a former sportsman and entered service through the sports quota.(ANI)
