BJP urges Oppn not to politicise Chandigarh stalking case
New Delhi [India], Aug. 10 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday urged the Opposition not to politicise the Chandigarh stalking case and asserted that the law will take its course in the case. On August 5, Vikas Barala, Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Subhash Barala's son, and his friend were arrested on the charges of stalking and harassing an IAS officer's daughter Varnika Kundu in Chandigarh. They were, however, granted bail on the same day. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affair Ananth Kumar said even the girl, Varnika Kundu, appreciated the prompt action taken by police. "Do not politicise it. Law will take its course. Even the girl appreciated the prompt action taken by police," Ananth Kumar said in the Lok Sabha. BJP MP Kirron Kher said it is a social issue and one should not politicise it. "It is a social issue, don't make it political. It is not your party/my party, it is across party lines," Kher said in the Lok Sabha. A Chandigarh court earlier today sent Vikas Barala and his friend Ashish Kumar, who were accused in a stalking case, to two-day police custody. (ANI)
