Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], November 14 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tried to destabilise the government by offering Rs 50 crores to 50 Congress MLAs.
While speaking to ANI, Siddaramaiah claimed that the BJP's efforts to destabilise the government were unsuccessful.
He reiterated that the BJP tried to destabilize the government by offering Rs 50 crores, but they couldn't succeed. The Chief Minister also mentioned that not a single MLA from the ruling Congress will switch sides.
"I said what they did previously. I said they tried to destabilise the government by offering Rs 50 crores, in which they couldn't succeed," he said.
Earlier today, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar also commented on the issue and said, "We will speak with the Chief Minister and then come back to you (media) on this."
Meanwhile, State Minister Ramalinga Reddy said, "They (BJP) have been trying for the last 6 months, but they have failed. No MLA is ready to go with those people. Since they have failed, they are making allegations against the Congress party and Siddaramaiah. They will never succeed. They will be in opposition for the next 3-5 years. They (BJP) are dreaming of becoming ministers."
State Minister KN Rajanna said, "They are always after us all the time. Whatever the Chief Minister has stated is correct."
The other ministers also accused the BJP of attempting to poach Congress legislators and destabilize the government.
State Minister Dr M C Sudhakar said, "See, poaching MLAs from other parties is not new to BJP. From the day Congress came to power in Karnataka, time and again BJP started saying that this govt was not going to last long. Their great ally HD Kumaraswamy and former PM Deve Gowda is also saying the same. This indicates that they (BJP) are trying all means. They (BJP) would have tried. Without proper information, the CM would not have spoken."
State Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil said, " The BJP has done it earlier. They have a history of doing it. Earlier also they had purchased MLAs and tried to topple the government and now also they are attempting it." (ANI)
