Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], Apr 16 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is only interested in 'vikas' (development) of its own people and their close acquaintances, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stood for 'sabka saath, sabka vikas' (together with all, development for all).
"The BJP, on the one hand, is working under the motto of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas'. But, the BJD, on the hand, is interested in 'vikas' of its own people and their relatives," Modi said at a rally here.
"They do not have a vision on how to take this country forward. There is no vision and mission for them. They do not have any intention also. Their only aim is Modi 'hatao' (remove Modi)," he said taking a jibe at the 'mahagathbandhan' (grand alliance).
Claiming that the people are in favour of BJP instead of Congress, Modi accused the grand old party of creating an atmosphere where talking about culture and tradition has become a "crime".
"The remote-controlled Congress government that ruled from 2004 to 2014 has created an atmosphere where speaking on culture and tradition has become a crime. Because of this, people have lost their trust in Congress and their allies," he said.
"Congress has hatched a conspiracy on our values and traditions. This conspiracy also includes Hindu terror," Modi added.
The Prime Minister asserted that the people for the first time had faith in a central government which is capable of carrying out development works honestly.
Accusing the state government of stalling development, the Prime Minister said, "Be it coastal highway, railway line or opening an industry, BJD has blocked development in the state. The government here has also blocked Ayushman Bharat scheme that would have benefitted the poor."
Continuing his tirade against the BJD, Modi accused the state government of "spreading lies" and "falsehood" and taking all steps to "close" policies of the BJP government.
"The BJD is spreading lies and falsehood in fear of losing. They are saying that they will close all policies. But, this is Modi. Mark my words, we don't close down policies. We will shunt out corruption and remove all middlemen," Modi said.
Shifting his attack on the Congress, Modi accused the grand old party of hatching conspiracies against the values and traditions of the country.
"Historically, Congress can break the country into pieces for power. They can break 'Vande Mataram' into pieces for power. They can break the states into pieces for quenching their power. But, I will ensure that our country is not affected by this," he said.
Modi further said, "Terrorists from Pakistan came and attacked our country. But what did the Congress do? First, their home minister used to change his clothes and then Congress used to change their home minister."
The Prime Minister urged the electorate to vote for BJP for "double-engine" development (same government at both state and Centre) and said that if his party came to power, then Odisha will be taken to greater heights in the next five years. (ANI)
