"BJP should have taken back PoK in these 10 years, they have majority": Congress' Rajeev Shukla

Chandigarh [India], May 22 (ANI): Slamming the BJP over its remark on Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said on Wednesday that the BJP should have taken PoJK back during the past 10 years which is enough time.
Shukla told ANI that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi broke Pakistan into two pieces and that is the record of the Congress party.
"They (BJP) should have taken back PoK in these 10 years, it's enough time to take it back, you have the majority. Indira Gandhi got power and broke Pakistan into two pieces, that's the record of Congress. Whatever we say, we do openly. BJP talks about the future but when the time comes, it does nothing. Congress's stand is that PoK is an integral part of India," he said.
BJP leaders like Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath have been stressing on taking back PoJK in their campaigns.
Responding to people coming in and out of the party, the Congress leader said that when the government is formed, people join based on ideology.
"Biju Janata Dal remained with BJP for 10 years but today both are fighting against each other. Nitish Kumar used to abuse them but today they are together. If tomorrow, the INDIA bloc forms the government, their (BJP) allies will leave them to join us. When the government is formed, people join based on ideology," Shukla said.
Slamming the BJP for abusing former PM Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajeev Shukla said, "Nehru ji died in 1964 but the BJP kept abusing him. It doesn't bother me anymore because if they can forget Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani, those who made them, it's in their nature to keep abusing Nehru ji."
Further, speaking on the Election Commission's delay in issuing poll data numbers, Rajeev Shukla said that he hopes for justice during the hearing in the Supreme Court scheduled on May 24.
"A few people have gone to the Supreme Court that after eight days the Election Commission has issued new data regarding polling numbers. The hearing is scheduled for May 24 and I hope the Supreme Court will do the justice. It's a special request from the Election Commission that it issue the data just after the voting concludes, in the coming two phases and to ratify the previous data. It's the responsibility of the EC to resolve all those doubts that the people have, otherwise, all the blame will be on the EC," he added.
Earlier today, Congress leader Pawan Khera posted on X and alleged there was a difference in poll figures presented by the Election Commission.
"Voters are worried about the strange goings on in the Election Commission through the four phases of voting. First, the Election Commission takes 10-11 days to bring out the final figure of voting and then the difference between real-time data and the final figure turns out to be 1.7 crore votes. This is truly unprecedented. Unanswered questions about the missing EVMs are also very worrying," Khera alleged.
Another Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that "overall, this difference of 1.07 crores translates into an increase of 28,000 per Lok Sabha seat, which is a very big number. This difference is the highest in those states where the BJP is likely to lose a significant number of seats. What is happening?" (ANI)
