New Delhi [India], Dec. 31 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi address to the nation, and said the latter has lived up to expectations an he is a 'messiah' of the poor.

New Delhi [India], Dec. 31 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi address to the nation, and said the latter has lived up to expectations an he is a 'messiah' of the poor. "Prime Minister Modi in his address to the nation has announced schemes and have provided certain relief for all sections of society," BJP president Amit Shah told media here. Shah further congratulated and thanked Prime Minister Modi for taking steps for the betterment of poor. Echoing similar sentiments, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, " The Prime Minister has today lived up to the expectations that he is the 'messiah' of the poor." Naidu further said that the Prime Minister has taken a great decision, keeping all vulnerable sectors in mind. 'All sections of society have been provided certain relief from poor to the middle class and farmers," Naidu told ANI. In his 43-minute address, Prime Minister Modi announced several schemes for farmers, pregnant women and senior citizens. He has also provided certain exemptions and relief on on home loan interest to the poor and middle class. Saturday's address to the nation came a day after the expiry of 50-day deadline set by the government for people to deposit old high-value currency notes in banks and post offices. This was Prime Minister Modi's second address to the nation. The first was on November 8 when he announced the scrapping of Rs. 1,000 and Rs.500 currency notes.(ANI)
