New Delhi [India], May 13 (ANI): Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Monday that the target of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is to end reservation of Dalits, tribals and backward classes.
"The RSS-BJP has targeted the reservation of Dalits, tribals and backward classes. Many top leaders of RSS-BJP have talked about ending reservation," Kharge said in a post on 'X'
Giving an example of government jobs lying vacant, the Congress chief said that instead of filling up these posts, the government has indiscriminately privatised companies and promoted contractual jobs.
"A living proof of this is the lack of government recruitment. For the last 10 years, 30 lakh posts are lying vacant in the country. If 15 lakh of these posts were filled, SC, ST, and OBC communities would have directly benefited. But this did not happen. Rather, there was indiscriminate privatisation of government companies under the BJP government. Contractual and temporary jobs were promoted," Kharge added.
"There was a conspiracy to end reservation in government colleges," the Congress president added.
Kharge pointed out that the BJP-RSS combine intends to change the Constitution along with do away with the reservation system.
"The intention of BJP-RSS is clear, Modiji has also made a plan to change the constitution along with reservation," he said.
Highlighting the importance of Fundamental Rights in the Constitution, Kharge said, "The Constitution gives us our most important fundamental rights. Right to vote, right to equality, right to reservation. Do you want this right taken away from you? Your right to vote taken away? Should your right to reservation be taken away? Should your right to equality be taken away? No, right?"
Asking people not to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kharge said, "So how will you hand over the keys of power to a BJP-RSS government which only does politics for its own interests." (ANI)
