BJP releases list of star campaigners for Maharashtra Assembly elections

BJP on Saturday released the list of its star campaigners and named 40 leaders that includes the top leadership of the party including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Jagat Prakash Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

New Delhi [India], October 26 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the list of its star campaigners and named 40 leaders that includes the top leadership of the party including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Jagat Prakash Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has also been named on the list, followed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Pramod Sawant, among others.
The list also includes names of prominent leaders from the state: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Vinod Tawde, Narayan Rane, Pankaja Munde, Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, Girish Mahajan, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Ashish Shelar, Udayan Raje Bhonsle, Raosaheb Danve Patil, Ashok Chavan, Sudhir Mugantiwar, Navneet Rana, among others.
The star campaigner will also campaign for the BJP candidate contesting a by-election in Nanded Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra.
Earlier, BJP also released the 40-member list for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. Chief Ministers including Yogi Adityanath, Nayab Singh Saini (Haryana), Mohan Majhi, CM Sarma, Vishnu Deo Sai (Chattisgarh) are also prominent names in the list.
On Sunday, the saffron party released its first list for the Maharashtra assembly polls naming 99 candidates. The elections are scheduled to be held on November 20 and the results will be announced on November 23.
Maharashtra has 288 assembly constituencies, and the BJP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance that consists of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Fadnavis will contest elections from Nagpur south west, while Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule will contest from the Kamthi assembly constituency. Other important candidates include Minister Girish Mahajan who will contest from Jamner, followed by Sudhir Mungantiwar from Ballarupur, Sreejaya Ashok Chavan from Bhokar, Ashish Shelar from Vandre West, Mangal Prabhat Lodha from Malabar Hill, Rahul Narwekar from Colaba, and Chhatrapati Shivendra Raje Bhosale from Satara.
