New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): Congress leader Pawan Khera on Monday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and claimed that the party ran its business for the last 10 years by spreading lies on WhatsApp, editing the videos of Rahul Gandhi and making baseless comments about him.
Addressing a press conference, Khera said, "We were defeated in 2014, we were defeated in 2019 too. We introspected, understood and learnt, but the BJP which got everything and now has started losing in 2024, did not learn any lesson, this has become clear today inside and outside the Parliament."
He added, "How they ran their business in the last 10 years, by spreading lies on WhatsApp, editing the videos of Rahul Gandhi and making baseless comments about him. It ran for 5 years and 10 years, now the people of this country have stopped it, and the Bharatiya Janata Party could not learn this lesson."
The Congress leader claimed that today also, the IT cell of BJP within 10 minutes of the speech of Rahul Gandhi started on how to distort and spin the speech of Rahul Gandhi. "They didn't learn the lesson. When the almighty gave you everything, you still did not learn it and now when the almighty is taking things away from you, you still have not learned it."
Khera further said, "It was good to see today that the Prime Minister was in the House, and it was good to see that the Prime Minister had to answer Rahul Gandhi as well. Some changes are coming, a lot will change now."
Khera further said that the PM will have to answer on NEET, inflation and petrol prices. Stepping up his attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Khera said, "In the last 10 years, you have tried to avoid people's questions by hiding behind 'desh bhakti', or hiding behind the brave army of the country, or sometimes hiding behind religion."
"In a democracy, dictatorship has to bow down. Dictatorship does not work in democracy. This is the message of this election and PM Narendra Modi should hear it properly. You have run this business for 10 years but it will no longer work. We will not allow this business to continue. We will not let you run your business by twisting speeches. You have run your shop by twisting speeches. This country, the Hindus of this country, the opposition of this country, the media of this country will not allow this to happen," Khera said.
Speaking on the results of Lok Sabha elections in Ayodhya and Varanasi, Khera said, "Hindus have awakened. They have awakened in Ayodhya and I don't need to say what happened with Narendra Modi in Varanasi as the whole world knows. Don't forget that 2/3rd Hindus voted against you. You didn't conduct the Census but there are 111 crore Hindus in this country and you know how many votes you got..."
Khera further demanded answers from the Prime Minister over various issues and said, "Come forward and give answers on NEET, give answers to Agniveers, farmers, and women. Come forward and give an answer to the nation."
He added further, "Now you have gone out of people's hearts. There is still time. Answer on NEET, talk about real issues. You cannot escape from the issues that are troubling people. You tried to hide behind religion and you got the answer in Ayodhya... Now we will not let you run away from the issues."
Earlier in the day during the motion of thanks of the President's address, Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP-led government and alleged there has been "a systematic attack" on the idea of India.
"There has been a systematic and full-scale assault on the idea of India, the Constitution and on the people who resisted the attack on the Constitution. Many of us were personally attacked. Some of the leaders are still in jail. Anyone who resisted the idea of concentration of power and wealth, aggression on poor and Dalits and minorities was crushed...I was attacked by the order of the Government of India, by the order of the Prime Minister of India...The most enjoyable part of it was the 55 hours of interrogation by ED...," he alleged.
He also called the Hindu symbol 'Abhayamudra' which gestures fearlessness, reassurance and safety, as the symbol of the Congress party."
"Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions...All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," the Congress leader said.
BJP members took strong objection to Rahul Gandhi's remark and accused Rahul of insulting Hindu religion by connecting it with violence. (ANI)
