Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], October 9 (ANI): BJP leaders on Sunday submitted a memorandum to Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra demanding strict action against the Ashok Gehlot-led government over increasing crimes against women in the state.
Many senior leaders of BJP including Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, Dr Kirori Lal Meena, Rajsamand MP and State General Secretary Diya Kumari, BJP national spokesperson and MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, MP Ramcharan Bohra, National Secretary Dr Alka Singh Gurjar were present.
'Within the last 48 hours, incidents of women's atrocities and rape have taken place at 13 different places in Rajasthan. Every 48 hours, a case of women's harassment is coming to light in some corner of the state. A terrible incident has happened in Pipalkhunt of Pratapgarh district". Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said in an address to the media.
"It is surprising that the Chief Minister, during whose rule Rajasthan is at the top in the country in terms of rape and crime against women, is pretending to be on Mission-2030 instead of maintaining the police. A memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Governor today", Senior BJP Leader Kirori Lal Meena posted on X.
During an address in the monsoon session of parliament, Rajasthan BJP Spokesperson Rajyavardhan Rathore took potshots at the ruling Ashok Gehlot-led party over increasing cases of crime against women in Rajasthan. The BJP MP also lambasted the Congress for their selective silence on women's safety.
During his recent visit to Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep regret over the five-year tenure of the Congress government in Rajasthan, citing a tarnished reputation for the state due to rising crime, anarchy, riots, stone pelting, and atrocities against women, Dalits, and backward classes.
"The Congress government in Rajasthan has destroyed the state in the past 5 years. It pains me that the state tops in crime list... A maximum number of cases of crime against women are from Rajasthan... Is this why you voted for Congress?... Congress left no stone unturned in looting the state," he said.
As per the NCRB (National Crime Record Bureau) data, Rajasthan stood second in crime against women in 2021. The state reported maximum rape cases in the year 2021. (ANI)
