New Delhi [India], Mar 23 (ANI): Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of creating an environment of "hatred" in the state of Haryana in the name of religion and caste.
“Earlier such incidents used to happen once in a decade but now these are happening almost every day under the watch of the government. BJP is spreading hatred in the name of religion and caste in the state of Haryana. This is unacceptable,” he said while talking to media persons here.
His comments come close on the heels of Muslim family members, who were mercilessly beaten up with iron rods and hockey sticks, and their house was pelted with stones by a mob in Gurugram.
He also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making “false promises" to the people of the state. “He promised numerous benefits to the farmers, but nothing was served to them. He assured 10 crore jobs to the unemployed, but took away 4.5 crores jobs from their hands,” he said.
The Congress leader also requested PM Modi not to promise moon and stars to the people of the state.
He also announced that the top leaders of Congress will soon embark on a six-day “Parivartan Yatra” to make people aware of the alleged failures of the Central and the state governments to bring about the change in its functioning.
The polling for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana is scheduled to be held in a single phase on May 12. The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections for 543 seats will conclude on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
