Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], April 15 (ANI): Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the country, Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi and Deputy Chief Whip in the Assembly Kewal Singh Pathania launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that they just pretend to be women-friendly after the BJP stopped giving them Rs 1500 under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Brahmin Sukh Samman Nidhi scheme.
"The BJP has insulted women by stopping Rs 1500 of Indira Gandhi Pyari Brahmin Sukh Samman Nidhi. BJP only pretends to be women-friendly. BJP does nothing for women except take votes in elections," Negi said.
Negi and Pathania said that if the ban imposed by the BJP through the Election Commission on giving Rs 1500 to women is not removed, then in June the government will give three months' amount to the eligible women in one go. This statement given by Chief Minister Sukhu recently in Galod, Nadaun assembly Constituency, is worth welcoming. BJP may oppose Rs 1500 as much as they want, this amount will be available to women from April 2024.
"The first monthly installment of the scheme has reached the accounts of women of Lahaul and Spiti district. Women from other districts of the state were also to get the benefits of this scheme from April 1, 2024. The government has also approved a budget of Rs 800 crore in the cabinet meeting to implement the scheme in the entire state. Notification for implementing the scheme from April 1 has already been issued. Despite this, the BJP approached the Election Commission and got the plan banned," he added.
Taking on Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, Negi and Pathania said that earlier, Jairam Thakur used to say every day that the Congress government was not fulfilling the guarantee of giving Rs 1500 to women but when we initiated the procedure, he approached the Election Commission to get the scheme banned.
This has exposed the double face of the BJP and Jairam Thakur in front of the public.
He said that women are ready to teach a tough lesson to the BJP in the elections. Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana will bring a big change in the lives of women. They will get Rs 18000 annually, which will help women become self-reliant.
It is noteworthy that the 2024 Indian general election in Uttarakhand will be held on April 19 during the first phase to elect the 5 members of the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha. The result of the election will be announced on June 4.
The general election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases starting April 19, with counting to be held on June 4. (ANI)
