BJP hits back at Congress over RS uproar, says Opposition unable to tolerate criticism

New Delhi [India], Feb. 8 (ANI): Hitting back at the Congress for walking out of the Parliament following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comment on Dr. Manmohan Singh, Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said the incident indicates that the Opposition is not able to tolerate any kind of criticism. Further branding the grand old party as 'irresponsible' and 'immature', Naidu asserted that the former did not even bother to shown the dignity and decorum in the House. "They think it is only their prerogative to be empowered and they can't digest the fact that people have given mandate to Prime Minister Modi-led government. They are not ready to tolerate any criticism," Naidu said. Echoing similar sentiments, Union Minister of Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Congress Party is getting entangled in its own smartness and advised them to be a little cautious in order to avoid being humiliated. "Firstly they questioned the surgical strike, then later created a ruckus on demonetisation and now when all their secrets are being revealed then they are little scared of it. We just want to advise them that they should understand the environment of the country; otherwise they have to handle this kind of humiliation," Naqvi told ANI. An outraged Congress on Wednesday staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha when Prime Minister Narendra Modi trained guns on his predecessor Dr. Manmohan Singh, accusing him of letting corruption run free under his nose but managing to steer clear of any charges. "Dr. Manhmohan has played a significant role in the economic system of India. But during the most corrupt regime in the nation, there was not a single corruption charge against him. This art of taking bath wearing a raincoat must be learnt from Manmohan Singh," the Prime Minister said, setting off cries of outrage by the Congress. Immediately the Congress MPs staged a walkout, to which the Prime Minister responded saying that if the Opposition breaches decorum, then they should also have the courage to listen to the response. Outside the parliament, Manmohan maintained his trademark calm and simply chose not to respond to questions over the Prime Minister's statement. Yesterday also Prime Minister Modi had trained his guns against the Congress during the Parliament session, by taking a swipe at party vice-president Rahul Gandhi on his 'earthquakes remark', by saying that "the earthquake has finally occurred" while referring to February 6 night's tremors in Uttarakhand. "The earthquake finally occurred. I was wondering how it happened. I had heard of the threat long back," the Prime Minister said in the Lok Sabha. (ANI)
