BJP has a bevy of experienced, talented candidates for UP CM post: Rita Bahuguna Joshi
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Mar 15 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Wednesday averred that the Central leadership will appoint a very capable person at the helm of Uttar Pradesh, who will be able to fulfill all promises made by the party to the people of the state. Joshi who won the Lucknow Cantonment seat by beating Samajwadi Party (SP) Supremo Mulayam Singh's younger daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, said that the BJP has numerous leaders with immense talent who could take over as the Chief Minister of the state. "A very capable and efficient person will take over as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh as BJP has a number of leaders with great abilities and experience of governance at the state and the central level. Besides that, they have a lot of old organizational guards," said Joshi. "We are holding a meeting on 16, where the advice of all MLA's will be sought and the national leadership will decide. We have made huge promises to the people of the state and we must fulfill them," she added. While the old frontrunners like BJP UP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya, Union ministers Manoj Sinha and Santosh Gangwar as well as state unit general secretary Swatantra Dev are still doing the rounds, a few more have been added to the list of contenders of chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's name is another contender for the Uttar Pradesh chief minister post. Following the appointment of Manohar Parrikar as the Goa CM, chances of Rajnath being sent to steer Uttar Pradesh have increased tremendously. In the recently concluded Assembly elections in UP, residents of the state broke the barriers of caste, class and religion to vote en masse for the saffron party. BJP managed to single-handedly win 312 seats and 325 out of 400 along with a few small allies. (ANI)
