Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Mar 11 (ANI): The BJP government at the Centre had forced the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to support demonetisation, said Congress leader and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh here on Monday.
Ramesh, who was addressing media persons, said: “We have the minute of November 8, 2016 RBI meeting, which took place just hours before the demonetisation decision. The details of that meeting were never revealed.”
“It is clear from the minute of the RBI meeting that only a day was given by the Central government to the RBI to think over demonetisation. The reasons for the demonetisation given by the Centre were rejected by the RBI Board, but the central bank continued to support demonetisation under pressure,” he said.
“Today, the whole country is suffering from the effect of demonetisation, which clearly had no impact on the black money, as claimed by the BJP. The truth of this government will come out within the next few days,” he said.
Claiming that the people lost their jobs in the aftermath of demonetisation, Ramesh said: “There is no doubt that in the last five years unemployment has increased. More and more people have become unemployed.” (ANI)
