"BJP failed to fulfill the promise of curbing inflation; their vows are jumla": Rajasthan Congress chief

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], April 14 (ANI): After the BJP released the Sankalp Patra - manifesto for Lok Sabha polls, opposition leaders have come forward to criticise the government for not fulfilling the promises made in the previous Lok Sabha elections.
Govind Singh Dotasra, Rajasthan Congress President, also criticised the government for not being able to fulfill the promises of curbing inflation, improving economic policy or bringing black money and called their vows a 'jumla.'
Speaking to ANI, Dotasra said, "...With what face BJP is releasing the manifesto. The promises they made in the last 10 years in the context of curbing inflation, doubling farmer's income, improving economic policy or bringing black money; in Rajasthan, the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) was to be announced as a national project that didn't happen as well... Their promises are 'jumla.'"
The State Congress President also said that the BJP's manifesto has no strength. He further went on to say that the party will not be able to secure more than 180 seats and expressed confidence in the INDIA alliance's ability to form a government. "There is no power in their manifesto; they are only confusing people. Now, the citizens of the country will not be confused and will teach them a lesson in the coming time. They will not be able to go beyond 180 and the INDIA alliance will form a government in the country."
"You tell me, the manifesto of Congress talks about free health treatment up to Rs 25 lakh, Rs 1 lakh will be deposited in the bank accounts of poor women, the minimum wage will not be less than Rs 400. There is MSP, apprenticeship for the youth, along with Rs 1 lakh... BJP only works to confuse people. They should answer about their work done in the last 10 years, their promises, their budget. As people will now not be mystified."
Earlier in the day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also slammed the party and said that all the promises made by the BJP leaders remained promises only. He said, "I think the situations that were in 2014 and 2019 have changed now. They made promises but didn't fulfil them. They said that they would bring back black money, deposit Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts, and double the income of farmers. They said so many things. All the promises that were made remained promises only."
The BJP released its poll manifesto on Sunday with the tagline "Modi ki Guarantee," with a focus on more development, women's welfare and a roadmap for "Viksit Bharat" (developed India). The manifesto released by the party promised 'One Nation One Election' and a "single electoral roll."
In its election promise, the party also aims to make the country the third largest economy in the world. The manifesto set the goal of making India a "global manufacturing hub" and was unveiled in the presence of PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and party President JP Nadda.
The BJP had appointed a manifesto committee headed by Rajnath Singh that met twice to deliberate on its contents after the party had launched multiple exercises, including massive campaigns across the country to seek people's suggestions before the release of the 'Sankalp Patra.'
The Lok Sabha polls in the country are scheduled to take place from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, to choose the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. Around 970 million individuals, out of a total population of 1.44 billion, are eligible to vote. The legislative assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim will coincide with the general election. Additionally, there will be by-elections for 35 seats across 16 states. (ANI)
