Kumuram Bheem Asifabad (Telangana) [India], May 5 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency Godam Nagesh on Sunday slammed the Congress party for attacking the centre over reservations.
"The Congress party must not talk about reservation. The BJP extended the reservation for SC/ST and Adivasi for 10 years in 2019. The BJP even gave reservations to the economically weaker sections which include Aiyars who are financially weak," said Godam Nagesh.
Taking a dig at the Congress party he said, "The Congress party when in power used to claim that they will provide 33 per cent of the reservation to women which they could not bring."
Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP he said, "BJP and Modi ji have already worked for the 33 per cent reservation for women in assembly and parliament. The bill is going to get implemented after the elections."
Earlier in the day, while addressing a public meeting in Adilabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Can TRS save Telangana from Razakars? No. Both Congress and TRS are afraid of Owaisi. The 'ABC' of appeasement in Telangana means A for Asaduddin Owaisi, B for BRS, and C for Congress. The Congress party which is afraid of Owaisi cannot work for the welfare of Telangana."
The Home Minister said that, unlike the Congress, the BJP has a vision, accomplishments, and will.
Notably, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) (now known as the BRS) won 9 seats, the BJP secured 4 seats, the Congress won 3 seats, and the AIMIM emerged victorious in 1 seat.
The voting of the first and second phases was concluded and the next round of voting will be held on May 7. The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
