BJP emerging as main opposition party in Tripura: CPI (M)
Agartala (Tripura) [India], May 8 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is emerging into the major opposition party in Left- ruled Tripura confessed a senior CPI (M) leader on Monday, a day after BJP national president Amit Shah was here on a two-day visit. According to CPI(M) spokesperson Gautam Das, mainly due to the failure of the Congress in the 2014 Parliamentary election and frustration with the Trinamool Congress (TMC), people of the state are fast moving towards the saffron party and which is emerging as the main contestant against the Left Front and CPIM in Tripura. Tripura is going for its crucial assembly poll in early 2018. However, Das was confident that the BJP which had bagged less than five percent votes in the last polls will not be able to uproot the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Front and which will win the 2018 assembly elections with more votes and seats against all odds. Reacting to Shah's allegations of failure of the Left Front government, he said Tripura has made a remarkable progress in various fields over the years. He also brought allegation against Shah of showing disrespect towards the people of Tripura. The BJP national president before leaving the stage at the end of the public rally at Kumarghar on Sunday was seen throwing the welcome turban in the floor. Das said that by throwing away the turban with which Shah was welcomed at the public rally has not only shown his disrespect towards the Manipuri community of Tripura but also the people of the state as a whole.
