BJP delegation takes Jallikattu row to Environment Minister's doorstep
New Delhi [India], Jan. 20 (ANI): A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation led by Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan and party's Tamil Nadu chief Tamilisai Soundararajan met Environment Minister Anil Dave here on Friday to discuss the issue of ban on bull taming sport Jallikattu. Earlier in the day, Radhakrishnan told ANI that the government should keep an eye on People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) because of their unnecessary interference in the state's tradition. Meanwhile, the protests at Marina Beach in Chennai have entered the fourth day with protesters not ready to end the agitation till the ordinance on Jallikattu is passed. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) working president M.K. Stalin was today taken into preventive custody for halting a train at Chennai's Mambalam Railway Station under the 'Rail Roko agitation. He has, however, been released now. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has urged the protesters to end their protest while announcing that a draft of ordinance has been sent to the Home Ministry, adding that it would be passed within two days. However, the protesters don't seem to be pacified by the announcement and have asserted they won't leave the Marina Beach till the ordinance is passed. (ANI)
