BJP credits MCD polls clean sweep to PM Modi's credibility
New Delhi [India], Apr 27 (ANI): Owing their victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's credibility, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said called on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to start paying attention towards getting 'wise'. BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said the people of Delhi saw the performance of the saffron party and judged them by credibility quotient. "I want to thank the voters of Delhi who have strengthened our hands by voting for the corporators from BJP. It will make our jobs easier in implementing schemes and programmes which we wish to implement," Lekhi told ANI. Lekhi also urged Kejriwal not to play politics all the time but to pay attention towards attaining wisdom. "It's time that he (Kejriwal) starts paying attention to something called wisdom. You can't always play politics for the sake of playing politics," she said. Union Sports Minister and BJP leader Vijay Goel said the mandate has proven the credibility of the work Prime Minister Modi has done in the past three years. "Delhi has born losses due to the confrontation made by the AAP in the last few days. It has taken Delhi back by a decade. They (AAP) would now learn that if they work in cooperation with the MCD and Centre it will lead to development of Delhi," Goel told ANI. Earlier yesterday, the BJP swept the polls to Delhi's three municipal corporations, North, East and South winning 181 seats out of 270 seats. The party succeeded in retaining power in the three civic bodies for the third consecutive term. The AAP with 48 seats finished second, Congress with 29 seats third. 12 seats went to others including Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Independents. Reacting to poll results, senior BJP leader and Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said, the result is a message for AAP to give up negative politics and work for constructive politics. He rejected AAP allegations of EVMs tempering terming them as wild and baseless. Delhi BJP Unit Chief Manoj Tiwari also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah's leadership and policies for the victory. (ANI)
