BJP corners Akhilesh over Bulandshahr incident, demands his resignation
Mumbai (Maharashtra), Aug 2 (ANI): Holding the failure of administrative system for the heinous Bulandshahr gang rape, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday demanded resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. BJP leader Prem Shukla said the Bulandshahr incident proves that administration in Uttar Pradesh has collapsed and that it is now ethical duty of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to step down from the coveted post. "If Akhilesh Yadav is ethically strong then he should tender his resignation and the reason is not only the rape incident but because the administration has fully failed in the state. Numerous attempts were made to reach the police by dialing 100 but there was no response from the other side," Shukla told ANI. "Moving on when the victim went to file the complaint the behaviour of the police official was aberrant and even the medical officer's conduct was peculiar. All this proves that there is nothing left like administration in Uttar Pradesh. And in such situation, Akhilesh Yadav owing to moral responsibility should step down from his post," he added. The incident took place on Friday night when a 35-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were allegedly gang-raped by a group of robbers in Bulandshahr district. The victims were on their way from Noida to Shahjahanpur with the other family members when their vehicle was stopped near a cycle repairing shop in Dostpur village on NH-9, which connects Noida and Bulandshahr. However, three people were arrested yesterday in connection with brutal gang-rape of a woman and her daughter in the regard. (ANI)
