BJP controlled EC removed SIT officer probing firing cases: Capt Amarinder Singh

Faridkot (Punjab) [India], Apr 24 (ANI): BJP controlled Election Commission of India (ECI) removed the officer of Special Investigation Team (SIT) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh who was probing the incidents of firing at Bargari and Kotakpura, said Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh here on Wednesday.
Hitting out at former Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, Chief Minister Singh said: “The guilty could not escape the investigation in Bargari and Kotakpura firing cases by getting an SIT officer shifted out by BJP-controlled Election Commission.”
“The EC belongs to the BJP. They got the officer removed, despite the fact that even the courts do not interfere in ongoing investigations,” Singh said while addressing an election rally here in support of Congress candidate Mohammad Sadiq.
The Chief Minister alleged that those behind the firing could not evade inquiry by using their influence with the ruling BJP to get DIG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, who was probing the case, shifted by the EC.
“They have simply managed to delay the probe for some time, but they will eventually have to pay the price for the offence they have committed,” he said.
“No officer could have opened fire without orders from the top. They knew everything but they chose to keep quiet.”
Taking on Union Minister Harsimrat Badal and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Singh said: “I will personally campaign in Bathinda and Ferozepur to ensure that Sukhbir-Harsimrat Badal couple is forced to bite the dust in this Lok Sabha election.”
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has fielded party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal from Ferozepur, while his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal has again been nominated from Bathinda seat.
Punjab, where 13 Lok Sabha seats are at stake, will go to polls on May 19, the last phase of seven-phased parliamentary elections. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
