BJP censures Akhilesh over criticising Yogi Govt.

Lucknow/Maharajganj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Aug. 10 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday expressed disapproval with former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's criticism of the current state government. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Akhilesh has no right to question BJP as he himself has been unable to manage his own party (Samajwadi Party). "I don't think he has the right to say this. The person, who cannot manage his own party, has no right to question the BJP," Adityanath said. UP Cabinet Minister Shrikant Sharma opined the same and said Akhilesh should introspect and should focus on his own party instead of criticising the BJP. He further said that Akhilesh should also introspect as to why his own MLCs are quitting the SP. Sharma further criticised the former government of deteriorating the state of law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, which the present government is trying to better. "The allegations levelled by Akhilesh Yadav are false and baseless. It has been only four months since the Aditynath-led government came to power. We are trying to fix the bad shape in which we got the state. We are trying to better the law and order situation. We are also working on other aspects such as electricity, health, education and other basic amenities. We are only trying to fill in the loopholes that the earlier governments handed over to us. He needs to introspect," Sharma said. Earlier in the day, Akhilesh accused the Yogi Government of manipulating the police for its own benefit. Addressing a press conference, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, "The government and the police are working together. They are going about accusing people of things they didn't do." He accused the police of going to different districts in the state and issuing threats to the people. "They have falsely charged people with Section 302 for not complying with them," he added. He said the police under the previous SP government was more efficient and had earned praise from several ministers and states for their service. "Many experts from across the country termed the police under our governance as the best in the country. The current crop of officers is simply giving it a bad name," he said. He challenged the incumbent state government to improve the lot of the police. He said, "They could have bought more vehicles, employed more people and built more police stations, but they haven't." Akhilesh said he will highlight these issues untill there is a solution. (ANI)
