New Delhi [India], April 29 (ANI): The BJP candidate from North West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, Yogender Chandolia, held a roadshow on Monday before filing his nomination.
Congress has fielded Udit Raj from the Delhi North West Lok Sabha seat.
While talking to ANI about the Delhi Chief Minister, Chandoliya said, "Arvind Kejriwal is in jail, but people will not listen to him even when he comes out of jail. His game is over."
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering probe relating to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
The date of voting for the North West Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency is scheduled to be held on May 25 in the third phase, as announced by the Election Commission of India on March 16.
North West Delhi is among the 7 Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi. This constituency comprises 10 assembly segments.
Meanwhile, Arvind Singh Lovely resigned as Delhi Congress Chief on Sunday.
"The Delhi Congress Unit was against an alliance with a party which was formed on the sole basis of levelling false, fabricated and malafide corruption charges against the Congress Party. Despite that, the Party made a decision to ally with the AAP in Delhi," Lovely wrote in his resignation letter.
He also highlighted the comments made by the North-East Delhi candidate (Kanhaiya Kumar) for falsely praising the Delhi CM and endorsing the work done by AAP in the education, health, Road and electricity sectors.
Lovely, said that since he cannot protect the interests of the party workers, he sees no reason to continue in the said post.
Congress, in alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party, is contesting on three seats in Delhi. AAP has fielded its candidates for four seats.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Hans Raj Hans won with 848,663 votes, defeating AAP candidate Gugan Singh and Congress candidate Rajesh Lilothia.
Similarly, in the 2014 elections, Udit Raj of the BJP defeated AAPs Rakhi Birla.
Voting for all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi is scheduled to take place on May 25, during the sixth phase of the ongoing general elections. The counting for all seven phases is scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
