BJP blames Hooda govt. for water logging, traffic chaos in Gurugram

Gurugram, July 30 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday blamed former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led government for massive traffic jams in Gurugram, which left commuters stranded for hours after the city witnessed heavy downpour. BJP member Jawahar Yadav told ANI that the Hooda government's fixation on creating tall buildings and leaving out creating overall infrastructural facilities was the root cause of the problem. "In the past 10 years, the Hooda government had only focused on making tall buildings. He did not focus on creating overall infrastructure due to which people were facing the brunt of water logging and traffic jams. But we will apologise for that," he said. "We would like to apologise for the harrowing experience faced by commuters due to water logging. We tried our best to clear the traffic and will ensure that it doesn't happen again," he added. He further blamed the Delhi Government for not cleaning the Najafgarh drain, which caused water-logging situation during peak rainfall in several parts of the city. Yadav, however, stated that proper arrangements are being made for not to repeat the same mistake, adding that Chief Minister M.L. Khattar is mulling to find a permanent solution to the crisis. "Today, following a Chief Minister's directive, the DCP and the Chief Secretary held separate meetings. We are continuously working to make the situation better. In three years, we will find a permanent solution. We have earmarked Rs. 2,000 crore for various redevelopment projects out of which Rs. 800 crore will be spent on Hero Honda Chowk," he said.(ANI)
