Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 3 (ANI): A BJP delegation including Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya, Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, and State President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary met the Uttar Pradesh Chief Election Officer Navdeep Rinwa and urged him to initiate action against the Samajwadi Party for allegedly trying to "incite riots."
Notably, the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections will take place on Tuesday. The counting will begin at 8 am, as per the EC.
Talking to the media after submitting a written complaint to Navdeep Rinwa, Brajesh Pathak said, "We have appealed to the state Chief Election Officer to take action against the Samajwadi Party and Congress for trying to incite riots in the state through press conferences."
"There should be an inquiry against them for trying to provoke people... We appealed to the chief election officer to make sure that the counting of votes takes place peacefully."
While KP Maurya said, "We have complained about how Samajwadi Party and Congress are trying to disturb the environment in the state. There should be a neutral and peaceful counting of votes... The leader of the Samajwadi Party is speaking the language of a rioter. We have demanded the commission to take immediate action..."
Ahead of this, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party Chief and BJP ally OP Rajbhar has also came up with similar allegations and said that the Samajwadi Party and Congress are inciting resentment among Muslims against the BJP.
SBSP, an NDA partner headed by OP Rajbhar got one Lok Sabha constituency in its seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking in defence of the BJP, referring to the exit poll predictions, Rajbhar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath as Prime Minister for the third time on 8th June and all the members of India Alliance who are promising their victory will board the plane and leave for Dubai, Italy.
