Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 2 (ANI): BJP leader Nisith Pramanik on Wednesday, slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the Kolkata gang-rape case, claiming that the law and order have completely collapsed.
Speaking to ANI, Pramanik also claimed that the West Bengal Police is trying to mislead the incident like the previous RG Kar rape case, where a female doctor was raped and murder on August 9 in the RG Kar Hospital's seminar room.
"This is not the first incident by a TMC leader in the state. Everyone knows what atrocities are done to women in the TMC office and how Mamata Banerjee plays the role of a mute spectator. Bengal's law and order have completely collapsed. Bengal police is trying to mislead the incident like the previous (RG Kar rape case). Mamata Banerjee should tell till when women will get raped in the state and till when TMC will carry out atrocities on the people. TMC is playing dual politics," the BJP leader said.
This comes after a female student was allegedly gang raped inside the South Calcutta Law College in Kasba area in the capital city of West Bengal on June 25.
Five days later, on June 30, the Kolkata Police said that the three main accused in the case were arrested in less than 12 hours.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Alipore court sent three main accused in the gangrape case at a Kolkata law college to police custody till July 8.
The Court also sent the security guard, the fourth accused, to custody till July 4.
The accused, Monojit, Pramit, and Zaib, will remain in police custody until July 8, and the security guard, Pinaki, will be in custody until July 4.
Union Minister Shantanu Thakur demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that the law and order situation in West Bengal has completely collapsed.
"West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee should resign from her post.. They are just hungry for power," he said. (ANI)
