Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 18 (ANI): Ahead of the Maharashtra polls, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya alleged that money from the benami account of a person was being used for vote jihad and pushing Bangladeshi Rohingyas into Mumbai.
"According to reports from the investigation, in North India from 253 bank accounts of companies Rs 250 crores was transferred to the benami account of Siraj Mohammad. The companies in North India were also bogus. All these companies started and closed. Siraj Mohammad through the Hawala transaction sent the money to Surat, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. This money was sent to 125 places in Maharashtra. This money is being used for vote jihad," Kirit Somaiya said.
Earlier Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched extensive searches across multiple cities as part of an investigation into an alleged cash-for-votes case. ED teams searched 13 locations in Ahmedabad, three premises in Surat, two premises in Malegaon, Nashik, and five premises in Mumbai.
Somaiya also hit out at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on his remarks slamming Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Somaiya further said, "This is the difference between father and son. When Pakistan's Dawood attacked Mumbai in 1992-93, then Balasaheb Thackeray stood to protect the Hindus. Mumbai is being attacked again today by Rohingya muslims. According to Tata Institute's report, only 54 percent of Hindus will remain in Mumbai by 2050 but Uddhav Thackeray and his son are talking about cutting up 'Hindu rakshaks'"
The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with votes for all 288 constituencies to be counted on November 23.
The opposition MVA coalition, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (SCP), seeks to reclaim power in the state, challenging the Mahayuti alliance, which includes Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. (ANI)
